Athena’s sensors produce a magnetic field with a focusing element that creates a large semi-elliptical toroidal field below the Sensor.

The electromagnetic field shape is measured by two layers of equally-spaced specially-shaped coils.

Electro-magnetic Field Imaging (EMFI) is a non-contact technology that can detect surface-breaking defects through coatings.

EMFI has the ability to function through coatings or at distances from surface up to 10 mm thick and requires little or no surface preparation which includes no need for a coupling medium.

The EMFI sensors detect the variable difference in the electromagnetic field as each defect type results in a unique response.

This variance is quantified and processed through Athena’s proprietary Analytics software to accurately measure metallurgical and geometric property changes.
